About the Kiwanis Club of Geelong

The Kiwanis Club of Geelong is a Community Service Club that has raised over one million dollars for Geelong charities since 1972. The Kiwanis Club of Geelong is not affiliated with any political, religious or sectarian organisation.  The aim of Kiwanis is to help young children., the needy, elderly, disadvantaged .

The Kiwanis Club of Geelong, Inc has touched many individuals both young and old since 1972 as well as many of the organisations in Geelong. These organizations include Geelong Food relief  Uniting Church , Church of Christ Breakfast program, St Mary’s Pantry, St Vincent de Paul, Geelong Hospital, Cottage by the Sea, Nelson Park School, Noah’s Ark Toy Library, Geelong Hospital, and the Royal Children’s Hospital

The club has a proud record of setting up or providing financial support to other organisations that are now self-sufficient. These include Special Olympics, Heart Kids, MS Mega Swim, and Geelong Carols by the Bay, now known as the Dennis Walter – Carols by the Bay.

Since the late eighties the club has donated a large amount  annually to the winter food supplies of “Uniting Church,  Church of Christ Breakfast program, Geelong Food Relief, St Vincent de Paul, St Mary’s Pantry, With special discount pricing provided by SPC Ardmona  in Shepparton we have organized the purchase and delivery of a semitrailer full of  food each year to the needy in Geelong.

Projects have included, the annual Senior Citizens Concert, Disco’s for the Disabled, Red Shield Appeal (19 years), Annual Youth Scholarships ($4500 per year) where a $400 scholarship goes to each of the 11 government secondary schools in the Geelong region and as well as a special scholarship to commemorate Jason Thomas a local firefighter who died in the Linton bush fire.
